New Light on Deadly Sins
The Seven Deadly Sins Many times, I submit my Internet cruising to a torture test. I really shouldn't because I should know better. There are sites out there for every imaginable subjects. Having put my philosophical hat on, I search for "deadly sins." Not that I was hunting for any religious enlightment because I would be last in the queue of those seeking enlightment though any organized religion. Well, low-and-behold, there was a site on deadly sins. Having piqued my curiosity, I ventured there figuring out that my browser back button was only inches way. Actually, in mouse-terminology, it was about a 3 centimeter of well-directed movement -- one that I can do with a blindfold on. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, I know, you will see their definition, which goes something like this "The Seven Deadly Sins are those transgression which are fatal to spiritual progress." In fact the definition should be much broader. It should really be: "The Seven Deadly Sing are those transgression which are fatal to smooth human functioning." It does NOT have to be spiritual in nature. Enough said! One of the first link I clicked on was concerning Mohandas Karamachand Gandhi. What follows in the next paragraph is a direct cut and paste from the deadlysins site. Fair use? Am I committing one of those "thingy" sins? "Mohandas Karamachand Gandhi, one of the most influential figures in modern social and political activism, considered these traits to be the most spiritually perilous to humanity."
Don't fret, the site also covers the: "Seven heavenly virtues." Regardless of your believes or non-believes, a visit to this site will get you thinking. ron herff |
